After earning an education degree from the University of Georgia, Sara started her career in 1995 with an educational television program in Atlanta by writing, editing, and producing segments. She moved to Boston to further her career in educational television at WGBH as well as to follow her heart back to her New England roots, where she has always been attracted by the quaint towns, old homes, and the proximity to the ocean and mountains. Sara joined the “How-To” team in 1998 and worked on This Old House, The New Yankee Workshop, and The Victory Garden as Production Assistant/Coordinator for several years. Being a fan of old homes and gardening, the dream job allowed her to tour private gardens abroad and follow several unique TOH projects including Manchester by the Sea, Key West, and Santa Barbara. In the final season of The New Yankee Workshop, Sara built an Adirondack chair and table alongside Norm, becoming the only person ever shown on camera with him in the workshop. After taking some time off for motherhood and volunteer work, Sara rejoined the This Old House team as Coordinating Producer in 2015. Sara lives in a 1910 Arts and Crafts colonial outside of Boston, where home maintenance projects are constantly underway inside and out. She has two children and a dog and enjoys gardening, skiing, hiking, and entertaining.
