Returning for its 41st season, This Old House will feature three unique and compelling construction projects. For a growing family that needs more space, the solution is to move up, not out. The season starts by helping a family achieve its American dream by transforming a cramped ranch house into a spacious Dutch Colonial. Then it’s off to Paradise, California, the site of the most damaging and deadly wildfire in American history. This Old House will help several families rebuild their homes and their lives after this unimaginable disaster. And finally, it’s a transformation story of an 1891 shingle style house into a modern home for the 21st century. As only they can, the This Old House expert contractors will restore the original details and add many modern conveniences, including a new kitchen, mudroom, and master suite. Ask This Old House returns for season 18 and brings back familiar faces while also showcasing newer cast members. There’s a heavy emphasis on carpentry this season, with house calls, building projects, and workshop tips from veteran Tom Silva and newcomer Nathan Gilbert. Also featured are guest makers like Jimmy DiResta and House One’s Jenn Largesse who will teach basic tool skills and welding for the more advanced audience. Mason Mark McCullough shows off the depth of his knowledge, tackling everything from drywells to fireplace makeovers including the meticulous restoration of a 300 year-old beehive oven. This year, the Ask TOH trailer will arrive for the first time in cities including Chattanooga, TN, Birmingham, AL, Richmond, VA, and Springfield, IL, while returning to popular cities like New York, NY, Chicago, IL, and Salt Lake City, UT. The show will document cherry trees in bloom on the National Mall in Washington DC and will tour the Illinois home of Abraham Lincoln.
